My idea. Diane’s execution.

Wait for it…

Fried okra, tomato, prosciutto, jalapeño, Cajun mayo on Companion bread.

Definitely a tasty way to end National Sandwich Month 2010.

Wait. How come I never see fried okra sandwiches on menus?

Hey restaurants — this is your chance. Fried okra sandwiches are gooooooooood.

Cheers, everyone. Hope you enjoyed (at least some of) NSM 2010!

Happy National Sandwich Month.

Late-night dessertyness.

Yum yum bbq burger with slaw from the Bulgarian stand at the St. Louis Festival of Nations.

I did not take this picture, or make or eat this sandwich.

In fact I didn’t have a sandwich at all today. Just didn’t feel like it.

Regularly scheduled sandwich programming will return tomorrow.

#35: Fresh fig & Gorgonzola | NSM2010

Supah good! Gorgonzola cheese with fresh figs, watercress with fig-chili balsamic served on whole wheat Companion baguette. So, so good!

#34: Tuna, fennel, egg, Kalamata olives | NSM2010

Good, but oddly flavored. Kind of a weird mix to me to feel like I’m eating licorice and olives at the same time.

I still ate the whole thing.

This is the spanakopita lamb burger from a new locally-focused spot in Maplewood called The Nosh. Twas good, as was the salad!

#32: Po’ Boy | NSM2010

End-of-summer-league bowling banquet at Saratoga Lanes. I had just a sliver of a po’ boy sandwich, and totally scarfed up the Del Taco tacos, Church’s fried chicken and homemade BBQ meatballs.

A refreshing, if unhealthy, change from sandwiches.
